A Friendly Reminder: Don’t Take Anything For Granted.

Don’t take anything for granted. Don’t take anyone for granted. It’s clichรฉ, but with every life cycle, we forget to remember the great people and things that happen to us–until adversity strikes our lives.

For the past two months, I’ve recently had a lot of breakdowns (like that of Jaclyn Jose’s famous breakdown scene in Ma’Rosa) because there have been setbacks in my business that I have no control over. As strong as I am, I remained calm and did all I can to solve my problem. As of this writing, it’s not yet over, but everything seems to slowly fall into place, and I’m thankful for that. I also became more aligned to being optimistic, and happy.

At the onset of my adversity, the instant reaction is self-blame and hatred towards the system. However, I knew I had to seek guidance and set intentions for solutions. I’ve been a believer of New Age Philosophy since 2010, and they really worked for me (but I also forgot about it), so I revisited Rhonda Byrne’s The Magic and completed the activities on the book, which I’m very proud of to this day.

The Magic is about being grateful for all the things you have despite adversity, even as simple as being thankful for the air you breathe, the water, and electricity, which we almost always take for granted!

Don’t Take Anything For Granted: Counting My Blessings

I’ve completed The Magic around 3 weeks ago, but it was only last week that I realized I had the perfect 2017! However, I took it all for granted. Here are some of the blessings that I received last year:

1. I traveled 6 times out of Davao

2. I met my twin flame.

3. I reunited with my band and played live gigs.

4. I partied a lot and watched some of my fave bands play live.

5. I was able to buy my first synthesizer at a terrific deal!

6. I had a lot of food trips and spent money for my loved ones.

7. I met new friends, most of whom are very important in my life right now and made me learn a lot of things and many more!

Despite having those blessings, I was a bit grudgeful about our government, about the oligarchs, about inequality, Bad capitalism, etc. Believe it or not, these things occupied my mind. I was focusing on them instead of the positives. It’s not wrong to think about these things, and we actually have to be aware of them, but since we have little or no control over them, it’s better to just make few changes in our lives and help others make positive changes too.

I forgot to be spiritual. I forgot to reflect on my everyday life. I forgot to count my blessings. I forgot to appreciate everyone.

At the end of the year, my boyfriend sent me a letter-writing how much it has been excellent since we met and how much he is thankful for having me in his life. I felt giddy and loved it so much. However, I guess I lacked appreciation and didn’t even bother writing him a reply (I only did after realizing how much he meant to me, that is, during my adversity).

I wish I didn’t take anything for granted.

I know you know that this always happens to everyone, and if you’re currently living a fair to ordinary everyday life right now, reflect on all the things that are happening, whether they’re blastful or plain. Don’t take anything for granted. Let this be a reminder.
