mWell Bridges the Gap in Mental Health Care with Affordable Counseling Sessions, Mind Health Score, and Self-Care Tools
In a bid to address the mental health challenges faced by millions of Filipinos, mWell, the digital healthcare arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation, is enhancing its holistic health and wellness platform with accessible and affordable mental health services. Following the launch of its Mind Health Score in May, mWell now offers sessions with certified mental health coaches for as low as ₱499. As the only Philippine health and wellness app available worldwide, mWell extends its support to students, workforce members, and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
Affordable Mind Health Services for All
mWell Chairman and MPIC Chairman and CEO, Manuel V. Pangilinan, stated, “mWell aims to transcend geographic boundaries and provide holistic wellness to our countrymen. Mental wellness is crucial in living our best lives, and we look forward to helping more Filipinos take control of their health, no matter where they are.”
Chaye Cabal-Revilla, mWell CEO and President, and MPIC Chief Finance, Risk, and Sustainability Officer, added, “As advocates of holistic health, mWell supports Filipinos through our Mind Health Score and self-guided modules. We make mental health services affordable and accessible for everyone, enabling them to be healthier in mind and body, provide better for their families, support the economy, and contribute positively to society.”
Empowering Students, OFWs, and the Workforce with Digital Mind Health Tools
Recent reports highlight an urgent need for increased mental health support for students. To address this, mWell’s Mind Health Score, based on the World Health Organization (WHO) Well-being Index, includes modules designed to boost self-awareness, empowerment, hope, and positivity using evidence-based techniques. These tools enable users to enhance their mental well-being at their own pace.
To further promote holistic wellness, mWell conducts campus tours nationwide to help students reduce the risk of depression, anxiety, and stress.
For OFWs, mWell has partnered with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), Ding.com, and PLDT Global to provide accessible mental health services, enabling them to connect with Filipino counselors and manage stress, anxiety, and other challenges while abroad.
In addition, mWell collaborates with companies to create customized programs promoting holistic health, increasing productivity, and improving workplace well-being.
Addressing the Growing Mental Health Crisis in the Philippines
Mental health remains a sensitive issue in the Philippines, with many suffering in silence. The Department of Health (DOH) reports that at least 3.6 million Filipinos experience mental, neurological, and substance use disorders. With less than one mental health worker for every 100,000 people, access to mental health services is limited, with costs ranging from ₱1,000 to ₱4,500 per session.
Mind Healthsavers: Affordable, Professional Counseling
To bridge this gap, mWell has launched Mind Healthsavers in partnership with experts from Mental Health Hour Manila. This package offers 30-minute video counseling sessions for as low as ₱499, providing confidential support and the option for specialized treatment recommendations from coaches across the country.
Arianne Alvarez, Co-founder and President of Mental Health Hour Manila, said, “While conversations about mental health are growing, we must create safe spaces that truly listen. Our partnership with mWell allows us to expand our reach to remote areas nationwide and abroad, breaking the stigma and empowering individuals to be self-sufficient. We are grateful for this opportunity to collaborate with mWell.”
Promoting Physical and Mental Wellness with the mWellness Score
Complementing its mental health services, mWell offers the mWellness Score, a daily tracker for physical health, including activity levels, step count, and sleep patterns. The platform also features gamified wellness challenges, leaderboards, and progress monitoring, which work best when paired with mWell’s wearables, like the mWell Watch and Rings.
As part of the MPIC Group, mWell is committed to achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, and supports the MVP Group’s Gabay Kalusugan advocacy for quality and affordable healthcare.
