Everything I Did on My Weekend in Manila: Nightlife Edition
In contrast to Davao, Manila is a place that never sleeps, especially for certain night spots like Makati or Timog, the current top two party destinations in the metro. I have been going to Manila almost every month, for at least four days, for my beloved artists’ concerts. It would be economically practical just to fly in and fly out, but as a single girl, I find it a waste to do so, especially since there is a lot of stuff to enjoy there. On my trips to Manila, I almost always opt to stay in Makati for several reasons. One is that it’s a vibrant and buzzing city with…

Goodies from TechLife
Just a bit of a life update. While I was doing my industry pages tasks for Aratum, someone called from our gate and said that I have a package. For my online packages, I usually opt for J&T Express, so I was stunned to know that it was the LBC guy. Apparently, I had a suprise package from Techlife! I got to ecstatic. Here are the stuff inside the TechLife PR kit: TechLife Wireless Headphones The most noticeable one is the TechLife Wireless headphones. I tried it out, and its sound quality was the best. Plus, it was so light; it didn’t hurt my ears at all. Apart from that,…

The Little Box of Mindful Meditations Cards Review
For someone who has embraced the esoteric lifestyle for over 12 years, I am quite subtle. Since esotericism and spirituality are uncommon amongst my peers and perhaps in the society I’m surrounded by, I have refrained from speaking about it. Otherwise, I might be the subject of ridicule or at least a condescending smirk. Now, one of my New Year’s resolutions is to blog more about my spiritual journey. But as mentioned, I still have to contemplate doing so deliberately for the reasons above. Nevertheless, I took the first steps by blogging about getting into crystals and being more grateful. Spiritual Guide: Oracle Cards I have been buying Oracle cards…

So am I an Indie Music Publicist Now?
I’ve been a blogger for many years now, and I have grown a lot since after joining my organization, the Davao Bloggers Society. A part of that growth and what truly amazed me was the fact that I woud deal with publicists. Fast forward to when I grew my main blog, The Pop Blog to having a domain authority score of 19, and being in the list of Feedspot’s Top Music Blogs in the Philippines and Asia, I forget how it is to be not getting emails from several publicists on a daily basis. I get a lot of emails every day. But to be honest, most of these are…

Healthcare with a Heart
Growing up in a family of doctors, I didn’t make a big deal out of healthcare. Both my parents and now my sister, despite being heroes of our land, especially during the pandemic, never acted like they were what they were when at home. Hence, my healthcare mindset was not really on point since I was a child. It may be why I was never interested in anything healthcare and pursued a career in its opposite sectors–media, sales, and marketing. Like what everyone expected, I would have become a healthcare worker—but being a medical professional never interested me. In fact, during one of my summer breaks in high school, my…

I Thought I Found My Purpose, But…
I thought I found my purpose, but then I found out about something that cancels out everything that I’ve been looking forward to and working on for the past nine months. I’m feeling heavy. My life has changed in many ways since my father began fighting cancer, to his eventual death in June of this year. Of course, it was hard for my family and me. Until now, we haven’t gotten over the loss of the head of our family. Apart from still mourning, my father’s death led to a lot of realizations and things that need to be taken care of, like properties and such. I am already living…

This is my First Attempt at Overcoming Writer’s Block
This blog is my first attempt at overcoming writer’s block and bringing ease and flow to my writing. I don’t exactly know why it happened. When I started The Pop Blog, I was excited. Everything seemed to flow with ease. My ideas–features, reviews, reflections, just everything, came to me like wildfire. It almost seemed like a magical power. My write-ups weren’t perfect (and they even are not SEO-friendly nor were concise), but I am confident that they were written from a place of inspiration and authenticity. Ironically, it all started when I was tapped to do freelance writing for several businesses and topics. The first one was for an IT…

I Started Going Out Again (Amidst the Pandemic)
I have to say that I’m one of those very few pandemic extremists and snobs. I have been very strict with myself and my family since the COVID-19 pandemic hit my city. And it’s no surprise because I’m living with three medical frontliners, but despite the three of them being doctors, I’m the most dictatorial. However, in December, I started going out again. During the first few months of this pandemic, the media was bombarded with protocols, news, research, and other information about the virus. And yes, I took them very seriously–up to now. However, after 10 months of completely isolating myself from my friends and orgmates, I finally succumbed…

I Miss Having Strong Political Opinions
Despite saying goodbye to my radical sensibilities in 2018, it was during this year that I have truly learned to be pragmatic. I believe being one is a great way to balance out my thoughts and perception of the world. Sometimes, however, I still miss having strong political opinions. Being Realistic and Pragmatic When we talk about Politics, we don’t have to be idealistic and see the government as a devil and its opposition an angel, or vice versa. The reality is that nobody is perfect, and everyone who’s on top decreases or completely loses their empathy. What’s even worse is that they may be sociopaths for all we know.…
