Lazada, the leading eCommerce platform in Southeast Asia, has officially expanded its operations and services in the Mindanao region. A series of launch events was held on February 20 at the Arcadia Event Center in Davao City, where Mindanao-based press, sellers, and content creators gathered for an introduction to Lazada and to learn best practices for maximizing the platform, in anticipation of its 13th Birthday Sale in March 2025. Dr. Roland Suico, President of The Davao City Chamber of Commerce & Industry, was also in attendance to welcome guests to the event.

According to a recent TransUnion Consumer Pulse study, Mindanao is rapidly growing, with 84% of Filipinos in the region feeling optimistic about improving their financial situations. Pioneering platforms like Lazada are keen to support this growth and empower the eCommerce ecosystem through strategic initiatives.

“We are committed to delivering the best price and best experience to buyers, sellers, and brands, and we are proud of our expanding presence and ecosystem across the country. Our vision is to empower Filipino-owned businesses, and as eCommerce continues to grow, we remain focused on making it accessible, helping even more Filipinos embrace convenient, digitalized lives,” said Carlos Barrera, CEO of Lazada Philippines.

During the event, Lazada introduced its “Barato sa Lazada” campaign for shoppers, which offers delivery in as fast as 4 days, up to P120 off on shipping for a minimum spend of P199, Mindanao-exclusive deals and vouchers, and easy, free returns. Additionally, special seller packages for local businesses were unveiled, including a 0% Platform Commission Fee for 90 days, 0% Promo Pass for the first 30 days, a dedicated store consultant, 100% sponsored solutions credit, and complimentary 8,000 seller coins.

Lazada has been conducting seller roadshows across Mindanao, culminating in its final leg on February 27 in General Santos City. For those unable to attend, Lazada has also opened its new Davao office located at the 6th floor of the Regus-Felcris Centrale Mall where local sellers can visit for onboarding, attend workshops and seminars, join campaigns, and enroll in seller programs and other platform-sponsored solutions.

For a smarter and more personalized shopping experience, customers can leverage Lazada’s suite of GenAI features. These include AI Lazzie, Southeast Asia’s first eCommerce chatbot, which acts as a personal shopping assistant. It can provide product review summaries, tailored recommendations, image-based searches, a skin analyzer, and virtual try-ons, streamlining customers’ purchasing decision-making.

Complementing these, Lazada has improved its return and refund policy, offering 30-day free returns—twice the industry standard—and an easy refund process with expanded categories for Change of Mind returns, ensuring greater flexibility and satisfaction.
