The Timeless Charm of Davao’s Heritage Shines at Kadayawan Festival 2024
Miss Universe PH 2024 Chelsea Manalo Joins PLDT Home to Celebrate Kadayawan Festival 2024
Davao City is buzzing with excitement as the 39th Kadayawan Festival unfolds, offering a sensory feast that promises to be a dream come true for tourists and content creators alike. The “King of Festivals” is back, and it’s powered by PLDT Home, bringing the vibrant culture of Davao to the forefront.
From August 7 to 18, visitors—both local and international—are invited to immerse themselves in the vibrant colors, lively sounds, and rich flavors of the region. The Kadayawan Festival proudly showcases the 11 indigenous tribes of Davao: Bagobo-Tagabawa, Sama, Ata, Tausug, Bagobo, Iranun, Kagan, Maranao, Matigsalug, Obu Manuvu, and Maguindanaon. Originally a celebration of a bountiful harvest, Kadayawan has evolved into a modern, urban festival that beautifully preserves and honors these tribes’ cultural traditions.
As a proud partner of Kadayawan 2024, PLDT Home is hosting a series of exciting events throughout Davao City, with the highly anticipated Hiyas ng Kadayawan pageant being a major highlight.
A Celebration of Beauty and Culture
On August 16, PLDT Home will award the title “Hiyas ng PLDT” to Jane Rose Miones, representing the Bagobo-Plata tribe, at the Hiyas ng Kadayawan pageant. This unique beauty competition seeks to find the modern Davaoeña who embodies the ideal role model, with young and accomplished women from the 11 Davao communities competing while showcasing the rich traditions of their respective tribes. The talent segment will feature traditional performances, including the singkil—a colorful and intricate dance originating from the Maranao people.
Miss Universe PH 2024 Chelsea Manalo Joins the Festivities
On August 17, Miss Universe Philippines 2024, Chelsea Manalo, will join a media luncheon to spotlight PLDT Home’s exciting Kadayawan Festival initiatives. During the event, Manalo will unveil the Kadayawan Festival Sale, offering a P3,600 discount on Fiber Unli All Plan 1399 installations for the entire month of August. Afterward, she’ll visit the PLDT Smart Ponciano Store and the NCCC Mall Victoria Plaza Booth before wrapping up her day at the PLDT Home main booth in Ramon Magsaysay Park.

To make it even easier for customers to connect, PLDT Home will set up booths in key locations throughout the Kadayawan Festival. Fiber Unli All Plan 1399 now delivers double the speed—100 Mbps (up from 50 Mbps)—ideal for faster streaming and video editing. Plus, it includes enhanced Unli Fam Call features, offering unlimited calls and texts across various devices and access to Cignal TV’s 58 SD and 14 HD channels for crystal-clear entertainment.
Kadayawan: A True Cultural Experience
With an expected 250,000 tourists flocking to the festival, the Kadayawan Festival is a vibrant celebration of Davao’s rich cultural heritage. The streets come alive with the Indak-Indak sa Kadalan street dancing competition, where dancers don colorful, intricately woven attire like T’nalak and Inaul, complemented by the iconic malong. This event marks the culmination of Davaoeños’ thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest and a joyful celebration of local culture.
Davao’s culinary scene is equally enticing, offering a delicious blend of indigenous, Malay, and Spanish influences. From the polarizing durian to the beloved pomelo, the region’s fresh produce is a must-try. Seafood lovers can savor grilled delicacies like inihaw na panga, while adventurous foodies might be tempted by exotic dishes like crocodile sisig. Coffee enthusiasts will also find delight in the distinct flavors of Mount Apo-grown beans.
This Kadayawan Festival, let PLDT Home’s Fiber Unli All Plan 1399 be your gateway to capturing and sharing every unforgettable moment. With its enhanced features, you can easily document your journey and share the magic of Kadayawan with the world through stunning photos and videos.
