Circa 2016-2017: Activism Amplified
How on earth did a consumerist pig and a highly extroverted person like me get my activism/activist sensibilities? Nope, it’s not because of my UP Education. My Trip to Ayutthaya In June of 2015, I had a trip to Thailand. As a highly paradoxical country, Bangkok offers a wide range of activities that every tourist can enjoy. After all the wild partying in Bangkok, I spent my last day in the Mecca that is Ayutthaya. In spite of the tourist commotions, the caretakers of Ayutthaya have maintained its Peace and Divinity as one of the Unesco World Heritage sites. Visiting each of the temples denuded some madness in me. Such…

My First Gel Pedicure Experience
I’m just a girl. I love to be pampered and do stuff with my nails. When Davao Bloggers Society girls were offered free services of our choice at any Nail-o-holics Davao branch, I immediately signed up, wanting to experience my very first gel pedicure. I opted for the gel pedicure and foot spa. It was indeed relaxing! I also loved the smell of their scrub (lemongrass flavor). It was Miss Barbara who was assigned to me. She was very careful in handling my nails. She would ask me almost every second if it hurt or if the water or UV is too hot for me. Aside from that, she also…

Real Neat Blog Award Nomination
Upon opening my WordPress app on the first day of October–I was surprised when a blog comment notification showed up from Dear Kitty. Some Blog. She told me that I have a Real Neat Blog Award Nomination. Since I was a nominee, she has 7 questions for me to answer. 1. Where do most visits to your blog come from? Most visits come from my country, the Philippines, narrowing down to my city, Davao, then narrowing down more to the org which I’m very proud to be part of, the Davao Bloggers Society, and also visits from my friends, whom I’m expecting much support. Yes, when you start a blog…

9 Reasons Why I Have Beautiful Skin
I am no beauty guru or beauty blogger, but I’ve been asked what products I use to have this skin. It’s not perfect; I actually have some little warts (darn I have to get rid of them). I also get acne at times especially before my period or if I feel like going barefaced when I’m out (Yes, I do an Alicia Keys sometimes). However, some friends of mine ask the reasons why I have beautiful skin, and that’s what this blog post is about. I don’t intend to humblebrag, but honestly, I have not been taking care of my skin as much as people expect me to. I have…

The Grilled Pieces are Back at Bigby’s Cafe and Restaurant
I’m doing it again. Even though I promised myself that I won’t be super sell out as a blogger, I decided to sell out on Food and Cooking to support local brands, and c’mon, who doesn’t like to eat? I’m going to Bigby’s Cafe and Restaurant. This time I’m promoting Bigby’s “The Grill is Back” campaign which was held last Friday, September 14, at SM City Davao, Ecoland. Bigby’s Restaurant has been one of my family’s favorite restaurants, especially when I was still in college. I even celebrated my 19th birthday there. I just love their food, especially their bestsellers. After 2010, I think Bigby’s became more mainstream to cater…

The All-New Antonio’s Progressive Filipino Fare
One of Davao’s favorite restaurants, Antonio’s Bar and Grill just recently relaunched with a new concept. From Antonio’s Bar and Grill, they renamed it to Antonio’s Progressive Filipino Fare. Almost everything is new–from the restaurant look–lighting, design, to the dishes they offer. Of course, their classic dishes Bulalo, Pinapatok na Manok, Krispy Pata, and Lechon Kawali are there to stay–but improved. “As a Blue Post Group Restaurant Concept, we need to keep Antonio’s Bar and Grill exciting and relevant to our customers. We had a good twelve years operating Antonio’s Bar and Grill and a chunk of our knowledge in the restaurant industry we owe to Antonio’s. The rebranding is…

The New Davao Famous Restaurant: Nothing Beats Old Skool
You know that I don’t just promote brands and establishments, but the New Davao Famous Restaurant is really worth blogging about. They never changed; they still offer the best Chinese dishes around the city. However, due to the fast urbanization and progress of Davao City, old restaurants like them seem to be out of place. Malls made it quite hard for old businesses to thrive, but the New Davao Famous didn’t give up. They improved their main branch in Magsaysay St., and now they have just opened their second branch in Matina, fronting Matina IT Park. Here are some of the classic dishes they served us: READ MORE: My Foodtrips…

The Philippines’ Decaying Agriculture Industry
I’m guilty. I’m blind. I’m unaware. I do not care. Barraged by my own adversities, vanities, fanaticism, goals, I forget about the bigger picture. Like the great dread of our plastic-impeded, corruption-riddled nation, a sector of our production is almost nearing its out mode, and that is Agriculture. During the 90s, Agriculture has contributed up to 44% of the Philippines’ GDP, but today, it only accounts for 9.65%. We are losing tens of thousands of farmers every year. The age range of the current farmers in the country is 57-59 years old, respectively. The Department of Agriculture predicts that if this problem lingers, the Philippines would only depend on imports,…

Here’s a Blockchain App that Empowers IPs and Farmers
I used to count more negative ways on how technology has impacted our lives. I have always been critical of technology and its effects on humanity. Aside from the fact that it may be a bit detrimental to our health, productivity, abilities, and overall well-being, Technology has somehow led us to chaos and lack of self-awareness. Of course, I’m also aware of technology’s aid in our daily lives, and I would die without it. For example, it was only during the 19th century when Dr. William Morton discovered the anesthesia. I can’t imagine people not having to use it during surgical operations before that year. Technological inventions that are also…
